Start Em Sit Em Week 1 2016

Well it is finally here. The 2016 fantasy season start Thursday night. Is your draft complete? Do you need to fine-tune your line up? Here are some starts and sits to look at for week 1.

START EM

QB –Robert Griffin III. RG3 is playing with a chip on his shoulder. That should be evident in week 1. I am not saying that he should be your weekly starter, but if you have him on your squad he may not be a bad option. He has averaged 24 career fantasy points against the Eagles.

RB - Frank Gore. Gore was a mid to late round selection in many leagues. The Colts offense has looked much better running the football in the 2016 preseason. Take Gore against the questionable front of the Detroit Lions..

WR -Will Fuller. With the Houston Texans signing of Brock Osweiler, it gives this offense stability at the most important position on the field. Yes, the also have DeAndre Hopkins, however, he will draw the double team leaving Osweiler to find Fuller. Fuller is a strong start at a WR2 or WR3 against a weak Chicago Bears defense.

TE –

Jason Witten. The TE is a rookie QB best friend. Jason Witten, not only has Dak Prescott starting, he also performs very well against the New York Giants. In the last 8 games vs New York, Witten has 52 catches for 474 yards and 7 TDs.

K – Matt Bryant. Tampa Bay Buccaneers have that bend but don’t break defense. This could make Bryant a safe play for week 1. Last season 6 kickers had at least 3 FG against the Bucs.

Def – New York Giants. Going up against a rookie QB should make this a feast. They should be able to score well against the Dallas Cowboys offense.

SIT EM

QB – Dak Prescott. The pretty boy of the preseason will get a rude awakening in week 1. The vanilla defenses that he saw in the preseason will be full of blitzing and hidden rushers. It may not be so pretty for the kid now.

RB - Matt Jones. The Washington Redskins RB is coming off a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. He is also facing a tough Pittsburgh Steelers defense. That is not a good combination. All of this, along with the pressure of rookie RB Robert Kelly coming from behind makes Jones a bad start in week 1.

WR – Stefon Diggs. There are definitely question marks going into week 1 with the defending NFC North Champs. It looks like Shaun Hill will be the starter. That does not bode well for Diggs. I would stay away from Diggs for week 1.

TE – Austin Seferian-Jenkins. What do the Bucs get from ASJ? Here is a guy that was kicked out of practice earlier in the preseason. With the up and down play of Jenkins I would stay away from him in week 1.

K – Roberto Aguayo. It seems, at least on week 4 of the preseason, that the mental coach has helped this kid. However, the pressures he will feel in week 1 o the regular season are completely different. I would stand by on this 2nd round pick for a couple of weeks.

Def – Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens are playing a strong Buffalo Bills offense. I know it sounds weird saying that the Bills are strong. LeSean McCoy, Tyrod Taylor, Charles Clay and others should be able to have a solid game against the Ravens def. I could see this offense moving the ball well.

Football is BACK! Fantasy Football is BACK! Week 1 is always a tough week. Enjoy your games and good luck!
