Week 5 Fantasy Football Start'em & Sit'em

We are ¼ of the way through the 2018 NFL Season. I hope that your fantasy football team is doing better or just as good as your regular team. Last week was the first week we had the bye. Did it bite you in the rear? Where you on top of your waiver wire claims for those off players? This is now the nitty-gritty of the fantasy season. You can make or break your season in this middle stretch. Therefore, without further ado, here are your starts and site for week five.

Starts

QB

Blake Bortles – Jacksonville Jaguars

Bortles has a fine matchup this week against the worst defense in the NFL, Kansas City Chiefs. With the loss of Leonard Fournette, that will play right into the Jaguars air assault. Thus I would lean on a heavy output from Bortles in week five.

RB

Matt Brieda – San Francisco 49ers

Brieda has seen the bulk of the action in the backfield for the 49ers. Last week he saw 63% of the offensive snaps. This week the Niners matchup against the Arizona Cardinals who have given up eight TDs and 37 PPR format points per game.

WR

John Brown – Baltimore Ravens

Brown is quickly elevated his game and becoming the Ravens top guy this season. His opponent this week, the Cleveland Browns, have allowed 573 yards to WRs outside the numbers. This is where Brown sees a majority of his action.

TE

Austin Hooper – Atlanta Falcons

Hooper and the Falcons have a giving opponent this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are the worst defense in the NFL against the TE. The Steelers defense is allowing 21 PPG to TEs.

K

Dan Bailey – Minnesota Vikings

The one time Dallas Cowboys kicker has found himself a home with the Vikings. He had a solid week 4 outing against the Los Angeles Rams. Week 5 could maintain that output with the possibilities of a shootout with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Defense

Tennessee Titans

The Titans defense is sneaky good. In fact, this week they should be exceptionally good against the Buffalo Bills. The Titans are fifth in fantasy points scored for defenses. Also, the opposing defenses are averaging 14 PPG against the Bills.

Sits

QB

Baker Mayfield – Cleveland Browns

Mayfield felt what it was like to be a starter in the NFL last week. He was a very popular play due to his emergence in the week 3 comeback. However, he disappointed with four turnovers. A matchup against the Ravens in week five is not ideal. They only give up 12 PPG to opposing QBs.

RB

Kerryon Johnson – Detroit Lions

Johnson has been one of the recent surprises in the past couple of weeks. He became the first 100-yard runner for the Lions in 70 games. Do not expect that in week five against the Green Bay Packers.

WR

Mike Williams – Los Angeles Chargers

The matchup for Williams this week against the Oakland Raiders is not very good. Surprisingly, they have only 1 TD to WRs outside the numbers.

TE

Benjamin Watson – New Orleans Saints

Watson runs most of his routes of the line of scrimmage or out of the slot. This is where the Washington Redskins are at their strongest. Allowing only a 52 passer rating.

K

Chris Boswell – Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have been a fantasy disappointment this season. Aside from week one, they have not been the fantasy machine they were last year. There is no respect without Le’Veon Bell. I do not know if Boswell will be a solid option this week.

Defense

Kansas City Chiefs

This is the worst defense in the NFL. I am not even sure that they should be on your fantasy roster. The only way is if you are playing IDP.

There you have it. The week five slate for your weekly and daily fantasy hook up. Last week I went .500. Looking or a rebound week is always fun. Good Luck.
