Week 1 Fantasy Football Starts/Sits

Each year fantasy football is one of the biggest money-making industries in the world. Many so-called experts try to predict line-ups for the common player as well. Here at Rat Pack Sports, we are entering our fifth season of presenting our starts and sits. We do not give you players like Saquan Barkley, Tom Brady, and Odell Beckham Jr. Those names are automatic if you have them on your roster. We are here to give you the less common starters. Names you might not think of. Therefore, without further ado here are your Starts and Sits for Week One of the 2019 NFL Season.

Starts

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills

Allen had a solid preseason for Buffalo. The team was able to see the second year pro grow up quick in year one. No they want to see him continue that growth in season 2. He should have a pretty solid week one matchup to do so with the New York Jets.

Kerryon Johnson – Detroit Lions

Johnson has earned his starting position behind Matt Stafford. He is going up against a rebuilts Arizona Cardinals defense that had trouble with the run all of 2018. The Lions will try and continue that trend with Johnson in week 1.

Will Fuller – Houston Texans

Fuller is in a solid spot in Houston. Wheather he is on the outside or in the slot he should see some action. The acquisition of Kenny Stills from the Miami Dolphins will open things up for Fuller in the Texans offense.

Mark Andrews – Baltimore Ravens

Andrews should be on everyone’s watch list or roster. This young TE is sure to get his hands on several balls this season. He should also be a big red zone/goalline threat for Lamar Jackson.

Robbie Gould – San Francisco 49ers

Gould is a potential top 10 kicker for the season. Possibly a top 5. He had a rough offseason but now he s ready to go. A possible wet, sloppy track could be a challenge for the kicking game. However, the veteran should have no issue.

Defense

Cleveland Browns

Yes, you read that right…those Cleveland Browns. They are going to be out to set an early statement in 2019. They are expecting big things in Brownsville and it starts in week 1. Look for heavy pressure on Marcus Mariota early and often.

Now the players to avoid in week one.

Sits

Jacoby Brissett – Indianapolis Colts

With the surprise retirement of Andrew Luck, the Colts will now rely on the services of Brissett. However, week one is not a good week as the Colts have to take to the road against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

LeSean McCoy – Kansas City Chiefs

I do not like their matchup in week one against the Jacksonville Jaguars. I would stay away from McCoy not only for that reason but also since he is still learning the ropes in KC. Besides, I think it will be an all out air assault on Sunday.

Corey Davis – Tennessee Titans

The Titans are going to struggle this season unless they make a change at QB. Also, a week one matchup against the rising Cleveland Browns, who are out to show they are real, is not the best for Davis and this Titans offense.

Trey Burton – Chicago Bears

Burton was a solid TE last year for many fantasy teams. He should be this season as well. However, this week not so much against the Green Bay Packers to kick off the 100th season of the NFL.

Dan Bailey – Minnesota Vikings

Bailey could be the saving grace for the Vikings in this game. However, I do not have confidence in the offense to get him into range. Until Kirk Cousins shows me he can win consistently I would play Bailey with caution..

Defense

Carolina Panthers

While the Panthers look to rebound in 2019, they will not have a good start against the Los Angeles Rams. The high-powered Rams will come in with newly signed Jared Goff and look to open the skies over Charolette.

So, there you have it. Week one in the NFL. Remember fantasy seasons are not one and lost in the first week.
