Week 5 Fantasy Football Starts/Sits

Each year fantasy football is one of the biggest money-making industries in the world. Many so-called experts try to predict line-ups for the common player as well. Here at Rat Pack Sports, we are entering our fifth season of presenting our starts and sits. We do not give you players like Saquon Barkley, Tom Brady, and Odell Beckham Jr. Those names are automatic if you have them on your roster. We are here to give you the less common starters. Names you might not think of. Therefore, without further ado here are your Starts and Sits for Week Five of the 2019 NFL Season.

Starts

QB

Carson Wentz – Philadelphia Eagles I like the matchup that Wentz has this week against the New York Jets. The Jets are not showing as strong as many thought they would in 2019. I think the Eagles get Wentz back on track with their week 5 matchup.

RB Derrick Henry – Tennessee Titans Henry is a solid option against the Buffalo Bills in week 5. He is the seventh rated RB in terms of touches. He also plays on nearly 60% of the offense. The Bills are averaging 24 fantasy PPG to opposing RBs making Henry a strong play.

WR Josh Gordon – New England Patriots Gordon is on his come back tour. He is out to show that he is no longer a troubled man. The New England Patriots have a very good matchup against the Washington Redskins. Look for Brady to exploit the 28th ranked NFL defense. Thus making Josh Gordon a huge fantasy play.

TE Austin Hooper – Atlanta Falcons Hooper is a great start this week for several reasons. He is the second fantasy TE. Hooper is sixth in red-zone scoring. Finally, he is fourth in targets. It has hard to keep a good TE down.

K Josh Lambo – Jacksonville Jaguars Lambo has 32 combined fantasy points over the last three weeks. He also has a great fantasy matchup against the Carolina Panthers in week 5. Kickers have plenty of opportunities and are averaging 8.5 fantast PPG against the Panthers.

Defense

Philadelphia Eagles The Eagles are in a strong fantasy matchup in week 5. They have a weak offense on deck in the New York Jets. The Jets offense is giving up 13.5 fantasy PPG to defenses over the last two games.

Now the players to avoid in week one.

Sits

QB Marcus Mariota – Tennessee Titans Mariota is a bad bad play this week. The Titans play the Bills this week. That defense held Tom Brady to only four fantasy points last week. I see similar success for that defense against Mariota in week 5.

RB David Montgomery – Chicago Bears Montgomery has slowly become the go-to back for the Bears. Although this week could be a tough play against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders defense has held some of the top back in the AFC to less than 45 yards per game.

WR Jarvis Landry – Cleveland Browns Landry was a huge play last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Nonetheless, do not chase the fantasy points from him this week. The San Francisco 49ers defense is legit and will keep Landry down in Week 5.

TE Jared Cook – New Orleans Saints Cook is not an active part of the Saints offense. In fact, he ranks 21st in red-zone targets for TEs. The dynamic Saints offense is not using the TE. Even though they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a good matchup on paper does not always translate to the field.

K Brandon McManus – Denver Broncos McManus has a tough road matchup in week 5. The Broncos travel to Los Angeles to take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The Broncos may be the best 0-4 team in the league but do not play McManus. The Chargers are the third-best team against fantasy kickers.

Defense

Los Angeles Rams NFC West divisional matchups are always so hard on fantasy owners. These teams know each other so well. However, I think Pete Carroll will have something special for the Rams on this short week.

So, there you have it. Week five in the NFL. Remember fantasy seasons are not won and lost in the first couple of weeks.
