Week 8 Fantasy Football Start'em/Sit'em

Each year fantasy football is one of the biggest money-making industries in the world. Many so-called experts try to predict line-ups for the common player as well. Here at Rat Pack Sports, we are entering our fifth season of presenting our starts and sits. We do not give you players like Saquon Barkley, Tom Brady, and Odell Beckham Jr. Those names are automatic if you have them on your roster. We are here to give you the less common starters. Names you might not think of. Therefore, without further ado here are your Starts and Sits for week eight of the 2019 NFL Season.

Bye Week: Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys

Starts

QB

Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee Titans

Tannehill is coming off his first start in over a year. The QB had a solid fantasy output last week. This week he has a favorable matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have given up the most passing yards in the league and are allowing over 20 fantasy PPG.

RB

Latavius Murray – New Orleans Saints

Murray went for 32 fantasy points last week against the Chicago Bears in the absence of Alvin Kamara. This week breeds a more favorable defense against the Arizona Cardinals. Keep Murray in your lineup this week. Especially if the Saints keep Alvin down for another week.

WR

Marvin Jones Jr – Detroit Lions

Jones Jr had 4 TDs last week against the Minnesota Vikings defense. This week he has a more worthwhile fantasy matchup against the New York Giants. Their defense is allowing the 7th most fantasy points to the position.

TE

Foster Moreau – Oakland Raiders

Moreau has been a hot target for Derek Carr over the past couple of weeks. He is averaging 10 yards per catch. Look for him to be a big red zone target this week against the Houston Texans.

K

Will Lutz – New Orleans Saints

Luts is a solid start against the Arizona Cardinals this week. They are allowing 9 fantasy PPG to kickers this season.

Defense

Pittsburgh Steelers

They are a must-start this week against the Miami Dolphins. Plus they have 11 or more fantasy points in four straight games. Also, the Dolphins are averaging the most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

Now the players to avoid in week one.

Sits

QB

Baker Mayfield – Cleveland Browns

Mayfield is coming off the bye week. That usually spells good things for those that have been struggling. What does not is the New England Patriots defense. They have only allowed one passing TD this season to go along with six fantasy points.

RB

Joe Mixon – Cincinnati Bengals

Mixon is only averaging 3 yards per carry on the season. If for no other reason is good enough to keep him down. However a week eight game against the Los Angeles Rams who are only allowing .81 fantasy points to opposing RBs.

WR

Alshon Jeffery – Philadelphia Eagles

Jeffery has an unfavorable matchup against the Buffalo Bills defense. They have only allowed two TDs to receivers and less than 20 fantasy PPG.

TE

T.J. Hockenson – Detroit Lions

Hockenson exploded for 25 points in week one. Since that fantastic fantasy performance, he has been relatively quiet. In fact, he has failed to score more than 6 fantasy points in all but one of his last 5 games since.

K

Zane Gonzalez – Arizona Cardinals

Gonzalez is what you would call “elite” when it comes to kickers in fantasy. He is scoring 9 or more fantasy points in all but one game this season. However, the Saints have allowed just two FGs and an average of 5 fantasy points.

Defense

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have one of the better defenses in the league. Nevertheless, I would sit them this week. the San Francisco 49ers offense is only allowing one sack, one turnover, and an average of six fantasy points against them.

So, there you have it. Week eight in the NFL. Remember fantasy seasons are won and lost by not playing the waiver wire.
