Week 5 Fantasy Football Start's and Sit's

Welcome Back fans of the Rat Pack Sports Show. Here we are back for another year of fantasy football. It is time to get those lineup set and chase down that money. That is if you are playing for money. Here at the Rat Pack, we do not bring you the heavy starters. You should not need any help starting those. We bring the players that you may have a question starting or sitting. Thus, without further ado here are your week five starts and sits.

Bye Week – Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback.

Start: Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers

Herbert looks to have taken the full reigns of the Chargers offense. He has a big arm and the Los Angeles Chargers are staying strong behind it. Look for that to continue Monday Night against a New Orleans Saints defense that is missing some pieces. Herbert should be a strong fantasy start in week 5.

Sit: Ryan Fitzpatrick – Miami Dolphins

Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins face the San Francisco 49ers in week five action. This game is ripe for the 49ers. Look for the defense to make life miserable for the Dolphins offense. That means you should not have Fitzpatrick in your fantasy lineup. We may get a Tua Tagovialoa sighting.

Running Back.

Start: Mike Davis – Carolina Panthers

Davis is leading the way in the absence of Christian McCaffrey. This is another solid matchup for him this week against the Atlanta Falcons. Even though the Falcons are top 10 in run defense, there still have been teams that have been able to run the football. Look for Carolina to have that same success.

Sit: Melvin Gordon –Denver Broncos

Denver runs the football really well. New England focuses on the one thing that teams do well and takes that away. If Drew Lock is back that will help Denver. Although, Gordon could see a depleted fantasy role in week 5.

Wide Receiver.

Start: Justin Jefferson – Minnesota Vikings

Jefferson has arrived. He is now the replacement for Stefon Diggs that the team drafted him to be. Look for Jefferson to have a big fantasy game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks secondary is nothing to be happy about right now. They cannot cover both Adam Thielen and Jefferson. This makes Jefferson a solid WR2 on your fantasy team.

Sit: Julien Edelman – New England Patriots

Edelman is usually a strong flex option on your fantasy team. However, this week he is a strong sit. With the expectation that Cam Newton will miss this week as well, playing Edelman or any Patriots’ WR is out of the question. There are other options for your fantasy team.

Tight End.

Start: Mo Alie-Cox – Indianapolis Colts

Alie-Cox has seen an increase in targets over the previous weeks. Look for that to stay the course in week five against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are one of the friendliest teams against the TE. With Philip Rivers not clicking on the outside, look for Alie-Cox to be his main target.

Sit: Zach Ertz – Philadelphia Eagles

Ertz is struggling along with the rest of the Eagles offense. That along with their week five opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers, does not bode well for your fantasy team. Keep Ertz down if you want solid output from the position.

Defense.

Start: San Francisco 49ers

While they are beaten up they get a good recipe this week for success. A game against the Miami Dolphins should be a solid play for the 49ers. While Miami has been competitive, they are still prone to mistakes. Pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick can lead to turnovers.

Sit: Tennessee Titans

Yes, the Titans are 3-0. They are coming off their unexpected bye week. You would think they would be a defense you could start this week. Nonetheless, with a matchup against the high-powered Buffalo Bills, I would keep the Titans on my bench. They are not a defense to write home about and could see some troubles this week.

Sleepers.

Offense: Antonio Gibson – Washington Football Team

Washington is making a QB change. Kyle Allen will start in place of Dwayne Haskins. That should not change the output for Gibson. He has seen his production increase weekly in both the air and ground attacks. He is a solid weapon for this Washington offense. Expect a high fantasy output for him in week five.

Defense: Denver Broncos

I like the Broncos defense this week. Especially if Cam Newton is out. All indications are that he will be. Keep an eye on the status of this game, however. There is a report that the Patriots had another positive COVID Case. This could put this game in jeopardy or have it moved. If it is on, do not sleep on the Broncos as a fantasy defense.

There you have it, your week five starts and sits for the 2020 NFL Season. We are going to be here for 16 weeks. We hope to help win some games during that time.
